David A. Brown Fellowship in Mechatronics

- Completed or enrolled in ME106 or ME285 (or equivalent) before Spring of the Year applying
About the fellowship
The David Brown Fellowship in Mechatronics was established in 1996 to promote the professional development of students in the area of Mechatronics and to advance the Mechatronics program at San José State University. This fellowship supports juniors, seniors, or graduate students interested in Mechatronics. Recipients are expected to assist with lab development and instruction during the fellowship year and are encouraged to apply for TA roles in ME106 the following academic year.
Francis Huang Memorial Scholarship

About the Scholarship
This scholarship supports undergraduate or graduate Mechanical Engineering students who are U.S. military veterans. Created by SJSU BSME alumnus Andrew Lau-Seim, it reflects his commitment to supporting fellow veterans pursuing careers in engineering. The scholarship was established to recognize and assist those who have served in the armed forces.
Robert A. Dees Scholarship

About the Scholarship
This scholarship supports undergraduate or graduate students majoring in Mechanical Engineering. It honors the legacy of Robert Dees, an SJSU BSME graduate who exemplified the engineer’s motto “Mens et Manus” – Minds and Hands – by applying his education to real-world innovation. Robert built a successful career in engineering and engineering management at companies like Life Technologies, Ichor, Care Fusion, and NOVO Engineering. Known for his adventurous spirit and practical mindset, he also pursued hobbies such as motorsports, brewing, and guitar. This scholarship celebrates his commitment to living with integrity and applying engineering for the good of society.
Mark A. Pasquale Scholarship

About the Scholarship
This scholarship supports undergraduate and graduate students majoring in Mechanical Engineering at SJSU. It was established to encourage the next generation of engineers and honor the journey of a first-generation college graduate. Created by SJSU alumnus Mark A. Pasquale (BSME ’84), the scholarship reflects his desire to give back to the SJSU ME community. Mark began his career as a mechanisms designer at Lockheed Martin and rose to become a Senior Executive in Lockheed Martin Space.
